A MAN is accused of abducting an expectant mother and demanding she terminate her pregnancy.

Reece Cairns, 19, allegedly targeted the pregnant woman between 1 June and 1 October 2019.

Cairns is said to have threatened her and utter threats of violence towards her.

Prosecutors claim Cairns seized her mobile phone, monitored her communications and prevented her from contacting friends or family.

Another allegation states Cairns locked the woman in his house in Glasgow’s Springburn and prevented her from leaving.

It alleges that she was repeatedly attacked by Cairns then headbutted, spat on and her throat compressed to her injury.

Cairns is then said to have wrapped clothing around her neck and dragged her onto a couch.

It is then Cairns allegedly forced her to drive him around.

The charge then states he grabbed her by the throat and robbed her of a sum of money.

A final allegation says Cairns locked her at a different Springburn address and prevented her from leaving.

She is said to have been told to lie about her whereabouts to friends and family and forced to drive to a different address where she was also held.

A hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court was postponed today due to the coronavirus outbreak.

A new date has been set for July this year and Cairns, who has made no plea, remains on bail meantime.
