SIR Bradley Wiggins delighted Rangers fans yesterday as he chilled in a classic Gers strip during lockdown.

The multiple Olympic medalist and Tour De France winner posted a snap of him in his garden wearing the Ibrox's side's vintage 1996-97 kit.

Widely regarded as one of Rangers' finest strips, it was worn by Ibrox legends Joerg Albertz, Brian Laudrup, and Paul Gascoigne on their way to completing the Light Blues' nine-in-a-row triumph.

A post on Wiggins' Twitter account, bearing the words Ground Hog Day #Lockdown, showed the bike racing legend wearing the kit and fans were quick to respond.

In just over an hour, the image had been retweeted more than 900 times and liked thousands more.

Even Rangers got in the act themselves, sharing the post on their own Instagram and replying to Wiggins' tweet with a picture of Gascoigne wearing the kit.

It came on the day Gers fans across the country marked 12 years since the Ibrox side reached the final of the Uefa Cup.

Walter Smith's men remarkably defeated the likes of Sporting Lisbon and Fiorentina en route to Manchester in 2008.

It proved just a step too far for the Ibrox side, however, as Russian team Zenit Saint Petersburg - then coached by former Gers boss Dick Advocaat - defeated the Glasgow outfit 2-0.

An estimated 200,000 Rangers fans travelled to Manchester to take in their first major European final since the 1972 European Super Cup.Â
