A NEW food market and bar could be on its way to the west of Glasgow’s City Centre near the Hydro.

A planning application for the site at 100 – 102 Lancefield Street has been submitted to Glasgow City Council’s planning department.

If successful the market and bar would operate seven days a week between noon and midnight Sunday to Friday, including bank holidays, and 11am until midnight on a Saturday.

Visitors will arrive within the main food market where there are a number of individual food vendors to choose from.

They will be able to get drinks from the bar and take advantage of the planned seating area either at the bar or in the food market area.

A dedicated refuse area will be provided adjacent to the main entrance with ventilation to outside bar and food market operators will recycle as much of their waste as possible.

A number of steps will be put in place to ensure a suitable waste management service is followed.

Staff will ensure that bins are clearly labelled and that everything is going in the right bin allowing the centralised waste service provider is able to recycle as much of their waste as possible.

They will be trained how to recycle waste and to be aware of waste collection times. Waste disposal units will be accessible at these times while rubbish collections times are pre-agreed and designed to avoid peak times when visitor numbers are high.

As part of a training programme the applicant has developed a disability confident and well-trained staff team to provide the best customer service possible.

Bar and dining facilities will be designed to be universally accessible which will be achieved by providing ramps and level access thresholds where possible, making doorways wider, providing clear routes to access facilities internally and externally and by providing disabled toilet facilities.

A decision on the application will be made in due course.
