Over the past few months, several huge military planes have been spotted over Glasgow.

Now another of the ominous-looking aeroplanes has been glimpsed circling the city.

But don't worry, it's not part of some secret coronavirus-related covert operation, according to the RAF.

It's just on a routine training mission from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

The massive plane is a C-17 Globemaster, an American military transport aircraft.

The RAF wrote: "Today, our C-17 Globemaster aircraft will be operating in the vicinity of Jersey and Glasgow, whilst engaged in essential training.

"These are necessary, routine, flights & not connected with RAF support to the UK's fight against coronavirus."

On Twitter, several people reported seeing the plane, with one describing it as a "big beastie".

"A big dark grey military plane just flew over Glasgow quite low...whats that all about?" another Twitter user asked.

"Whit a beastie of a plane!!" the owner of an account named The Internet Bampot opined.

"Just flew over Glasgow."
