A small crowd of people gathered in the Glasgow Green as part of an anti-lockdown protest which was expected to take place across the UK.

The protesters could be heard shouting "we are not livestock" and "freedom" from 12pm on Saturday.

They had gathered to protest against the “unlawful lockdown” and proposed “mandatory vaccines”.

Police were monitoring the scene from the start of the protest, with multiple police vehicles seen circling the park.

One protestor at the Glasgow Green has been heard shouting: “Experts lie; people die”.

Lockdown rules mean people in Scotland are still not allowed to meet up with people from other households and mass gatherings are banned.

Police Scotland had told people not to gather in parks and the leader of Glasgow City Council, Susan Aitken, had branded those behind it as “far-right wing bams” who are “not welcome in Glasgow.”

In London, around three dozen people have gathered in Hyde Park to protest against the coronavirus lockdown.

Standing close together near Speaker’s Corner, several held placards and banners including slogans like “freedom over fear” as police, including some on horseback, looked on.

A group of about a dozen protesters also gathered on Southampton Common to demonstrate against the lockdown.

The demonstrators held placards saying “Stop the Lies”, “Say no to tyranny” and “Fight 4 Freedom”.
