It comes after reports of a man wearing a skeleton mask allegedly pulled a knife on a woman on the same canal path near to the Leisuredrome in Bishopbriggs.

Writing on a local community support group No1Seems2Care, a woman claiming to be the mother of the victim said her daughter was left "distraught" after a masked thug threatened her with a knife.

She said the incident, which occurred at 6.05pm on Tuesday, May 19, saw her 22-year-old daughter pursued by a man in a mask armed with a knife.

She went on to say that in her panic, her daughter dropped her bag and bank card but that the man did not attempt to steal anything.

She said he fled from the scene on a bicycle in the direction of Bishopbriggs and was helped by two boys who passed by shortly after the incident occurred.

Police would not confirm if the incident described is the same as a manhunt in connection to an incident on the canal path near the Bishopbriggs Leisuredrome on the same date and time.

" I am also keen to speak to two youths, who are only described as being at there at the time in question. I would ask anyone who may have been in the area of the canal path near the sports centre around 6pm last night to get in touch with us on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 2999 19 May 2020, if they saw or heard anything suspicious.
