GLASGOW’S Lord Provost has been delivering pamper packages to care home staff working on the front line during Covd-19.

The First Citizen has teamed up with his Depute Lieutenant to deliver luxury Arran Aromatics products, including soap, sanitizer, hand cream, lip salve and sweeties to frontline care staff at Ashgill Care Home and Craigbank Care Home.

Lord Provost Philip Braat and Depute Lieutenant Dr Rajan Madhok also distributed the luxury items to Ashton Grange Care Centre, Greyfriars Care Centre, Foxley House Care Home and Hogganfield Care Centre.

The Lord Provost said: “My Depute Lieutenant approached me because he thought it would give staff a boost if I presented the gifts. It was the least I could do to show my personal gratitude, and the city’s gratitude, for our front line care home workers who daily show their commitment to our elderly.”

Dr Madhock, a consultant at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, explained he was determined to show his appreciation for care home staff after the Royal Infirmary began receiving residents from surrounding care homes displaying Covid-19.

He said: “I was working overnight on Easter Sunday. We’ve a rest and recreation room and there were small Easter eggs and sweeties donated to hospital staff from a local church. I thought about the care home staff who’d looked after the individuals we were now caring for. I have to say they had been very well looked after in very challenging conditions.

“I discussed it with my colleagues and there was overwhelming consensus that we should do something to symbolically show that we value our care home staff and that they too, deserve some love and care.”
