A NEW wellbeing centre could open in the city’s South Side if planners give the project the go-ahead.

Cultivating Mindfulness has applied for planning permission to change the use of a space on Gavinton Street in Muirend.

The planning application states that they wish to use a showroom gallery and workshop as recreational, yoga and mindfulness studio. |

In a statement, the charity said: “The space will have two studio spaces offering wellbeing activities that we hope the local community will use and benefit from, such as mindfulness meditation classes as well as yoga, tai chi, and pilates.

“Wellbeing classes will promote health and relaxation.

“Classes such as meditation and workshops do not require music however if music is played for example yoga it will be relaxing therefore noise levels will be very little.

“There will be a reception area to the entrance that will have a welcome and booking desk and an area that will stock products designed to enhance wellbeing such as meditation cushions and yoga mats, meditation journals and books.”

If approved, the space would open 9 am to 9 pm except weekends 9am to 6pm.

A decision is expected on the plans by July 14.
