POLICE have launched a probe after heartless thieves raided a restaurant outside Glasgow to steal cash and booze during lockdown.

Finsbay in Milngavie's Main Street said the break-in was 'hard to take' after it happened sometime Sunday into Monday.

The eatery called in the cops on Monday morning who have now confirmed that they are investigating a break-in.

In a statement on Facebook, Finsbay said: "On a serious note, we are saddened to say that we got broken into last night. In this current climate and considering all of our on-going efforts to keep our business open and our staff in jobs, this is hard to take and is very disheartening.

"Fortunately, the mastermind never got away with much and has been caught on our CCTV cameras. The police are looking in to this as we speak.

"We appreciate all the messages of support. It is a real a shame as our new shop was due to open today for all our lovely and loyal customers.

"As usual, we are powering through and will be open for business as normal - taking orders online and over the phone. Now more than ever, as a small local business, we appreciate all custom and support and want to thank you all once again for sticking with us through these times!"
