A MAN is accused of setting fire to a flat which resulted in neighbours requiring treatment for smoke inhalation.

Hamid Amiri, 37, allegedly set fire to the kitchen of the property in Glasgow’s Anderston area in March this year.

Prosecutors claim the fire took effect and “caused smoke to be emitted to other private dwellings” in the area’s Argyle Street block.

It is said the residents required “medical treatment for smoke inhalation” following the blaze.

Amiri faces a final charge of culpably and dangerously throwing furniture from a first-floor window onto a pavement.

Amiri pleaded not guilty to the charges today at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A new hearing date was set for July this year by Sheriff Paul Crozier who continued Amiri’s remand in custody meantime.
