AN HAIR-OIC Inverclyde woman is shaving her beloved locks to raise money in memory of her late mother-in-law.
Caroline McAnespie is braving the shave to raise money for Ardgowan Hospice, who looked after her mother-in-law Christine before she died in October 2019.
The kind-hearted 29-year-old, a manager at Greenock's Webhelp, has already raised over £1,000 - more than doubling her initial target.
Caroline, pictured, said: "Being at the hospice and seeing how much they loved and cared for Christine was reason enough to raise this money.
"She genuinely loved being at Ardgowan, as they made her feel very comfortable and content.
"I want to do this to say thank-you for everything they did for her.
"Christine didn't unfortunately have a choice when it came to losing her own hair, so I wanted to do this in her memory."
A much-loved nurse at the Larkfield Unit for 12 years, Christine, inset, passed away at just 54-year-old last year following a battle with cancer.
Christine left behind husband William, who lives in Skelmorlie, and sons Martin and Billy, Caroline's husband.
Caroline said: "We are going to be make the headshave into a wee event for family and friends.
"Both Billy's family and mine will be tuning in to watch Billy do the honours which he is delighted about.
"My dad and step-mum will even be tuning in from Fuerteventura, so it's nice that it is bringing everyone together while we are apart."
As well as smashing her fundraising goals for the hospice, charitable Caroline will also be donating her locks to The Little Princess Trust to make wigs for children and young people experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment.
Caroline added: "I am originally from Largs and I noticed someone doing the same thing from my home town last week, so I thought it would be a brilliant idea.
"My colleagues have been a massive help and will also be donating money that we raise monthly as a team to the cause.
"I am really nervous as I have never had my hair cut short before let alone totally gone, so I am really thankful to everyone so far for their support and kind wishes."
