A tenants' group in Maryhill has welcomed new government guidelines that put pressure on social landlords to comply with "appropriate" communal close hygiene standards.

Campaign group, Living Rent said new guidance by Housing Minister Kevin Stewart is in line with its demands, "which came out of our members on Wyndford raising their voice at the start of the pandemic."

A spokesman said: "As a local branch of Living Rent we also want to thank Linzi Heggie, and the Cube Housing Officers, both of whom have been key in patiently registering pandemic cleaning worries on a local level.

"WTU will now be organising block volunteers to monitor and document the hygiene situation on our scheme."
