As people bask in the glorious weather this weekend, popular beauty spots are urging the public to stay local.

Scotland entered the first stage of the government's four-part plans to ease the lockdown on Friday.

The public is now allowed to sunbathe if local parks and to meet with one other household at a time.

However, beauty locations within travelling distance are warning visitors to keep away and to respect the five-mile rule.

Car parks at Lunderston Bay in Gourock and Greenock Cut Visitor Centre remain closed despite the changes to restrictions.

Further afield, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs Natural Park has warned that nearby roads is only open to local traffic.

Current restrictions still prohibit travelling more than five miles from your local area and visiting tourist and beauty hot spots.

The natural park took to Twitter to remind would-be visitors to stay away.

A post by the account reads: Don’t travel to [Loch Lomond and the Trossachs] unnecessarily and #StayLocal for outdoor activities.

The First Minister warned this morning that there is still a "significant risk" that coronavirus could "run out of control again".

Nicola Sturgeon told the Sophy Ridge on Sunday programme: “For what it’s worth, I agree with the opinion that has been expressed over the weekend that we have got to be very cautious, this virus hasn’t gone away, there is still a significant risk it could run out of control again.

“That’s why in Scotland we are moving very slowly, very cautiously.”

She later took to Twitter to remind people to keep to their local areas and warned that breaking these rules could see the initial lockdown restrictions reapplied.

Sturgeon wrote: "A reminder that you should not be flocking to beauty/tourist spots - or travelling more than around 5 miles from your home for leisure/recreation.

"Doing so puts yourself and others at risk and increases the chance of restrictions having to be reapplied."
