THE owner of Scotland’s first pakora drive-thru is hoping to be back serving the local community as soon as she can.

Despite being given the “go ahead” to start trading, Sheetal Revis, who runs The Pakora Explorer, was left disappointed when West Dunbartonshire Council asked her to stop trading from her converted horse box until further notice.

The pakora drive-thru was launched in Old Kilpatrick on May 15 and proved a hit with local residents.

Sheetal, 34, told the Post: “We had a cracking first weekend, it was really busy. But, we were doing pre-orders only and managing the traffic to make sure it was safe.

“The following weekend we had to let everyone down because we couldn’t trade.”

Sheetal’s business was set up in December 2018, and she has been travelling around the country with her original street food.

The Old Kilpatrick site was to be permanent, so Sheetal is keen to get back to business as soon as she is given the go-ahead.

She praised the local community for all the support during the first weekend of trading, and following the council’s decision to close her small business temporarily.

Sheetal said: “The people in the community are so lovely, so to have to close - gutted was an understatement. The comments that were coming in were so touching and is pushing me to keep going.

“I was just starting to get the business up and running and employ people so to have it all taken away was just disappointing.”

A West Dunbartonshire Council spokeswoman said: “Any business operating as a street trader requires to hold the appropriate licence or be located on land covered by an appropriate licence before they can begin trading.

“The business has ceased trading until such time that a suitable licence is in place.”
