A MAN armed with a knife under his belt has been jailed for 15 months.
Mark Eadie, 30, claimed he took the five inch blade from a drunk friend in Cambuslang in April.
The offence took place four years after Eadie was convicted of assaulting a man to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
Eadie repeatedly struck William Bell on the body with a weapon in Blantyre in 2014.
He also admitted attempting to head butt a police officer at a station and was given 300 hours unpaid work.
Eadie pleaded guilty yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the unlawful possession of a knife in a public place.
Marco Guarino, defending, said: “His friend was intoxicated and he took the knife off him.
“He should have immediately disposed of it.”
Sheriff Lindsay Wood told Eadie that there was no alternative to a custodial sentence.
