A HAIRDRESSER has said he will not open until given the green light by the government despite "speculation" in the industry that the date may be brought forward.
The Scottish government has said it is unlikely that businesses will be permitted to open until phase three of the 'route map' out of lockdown with July 9 given as the earliest date.
Brian MacMillan, who owns FM Hairdressing in Barrhead, said there had been talk in the industry that salons may be permitted to open ahead of this time to retail products and offer advice to clients, while maintaining the 2m distancing requirement.
Glasgow salon, Ellen Conlin, posted an update on its website earlier this week saying it could potentially open for business on June 30.

Mr MacMillan said: “Like all salon owners across the United Kingdom, we are eager to reopen and welcome our clients back.
“There has been speculation of the date being pulled forward and some salons opening for retail purchases before we reach the advised phase as confirmed by the government.
“We personally will be following all guidelines set by the government and will not open unless we are given the green light to do so.
“Our clients and our team members health and safety is extremely important to us and comes before anything.”
