A West End restaurant and bar has announced the boards on its windows are coming down. 

Brel was forced to board up its windows during lockdown after its premises was trashed by vandals in April.

But the Ashton Lane bar has now taken to social media to announce some positive news.

A Facebook post reads: "Last time we posted we had to board up our windows when we got broken in to - this time it’s because we’re taking them off!"

They announced that they will be reopening for takeaway this weekend, offering "ice cold pints, our famous moules frites, brel burgers & more."

Takeaway will be available on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 6pm.

In more positive news that will have those in West End rejoicing, Brel also announced they are working to reopen their beer garden.

The post continues: "We're also working on our socially-distanced plans to get the best beer garden in Glasgow up and running ASAP.

"This has been the toughest time we’ve known as a business, but we’re determined to make it through and we’d love to see you and for you to help us spread the word this weekend.

"Full menus coming shortly!"
