Police have been called to the West End after a community protested for a second day over tree felling to make way for a new development.

Westpoint Homes is building 19 flats on the site of a disused gym near Queen Margaret Drive.

Local residents, long opposed to the project, claim the developer is breaching bird protection laws by felling trees during nesting season.

Around eight police officers were said to be at the scene this morning as treee surgeons began a second day of work.

Eyewitnesses claimed the worker was hit with a traffic cone.
