Fire crews remain at the scene of an ongoing fire in the Patterton area of Newton Mearns.

Emergency services were rushed to tackle the blaze around 8pm last night by Patterton Farm. 

Three appliances were sent to the scene of the "well-developed fire" where a "large quantity" of tyres were burning. 

Black smoke was seen billowing across the area.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Services told the Glasgow Times that crews returned to Patterton Farm around 6.30am on Sunday. 

A spokeswoman confirmed the incident is ongoing. 

She said: "We were alerted at 8.11pm on Saturday, June 20 to reports of a well-developed fire in the open in Newton Mearns.

"Operations control mobilised three appliances to Patterton Farm where firefighters were met with a large quantity of tyres on fire.

"We went out again at 6.30am this morning. 

“There are no casualties."
