Thousands have been raised for the family of a young woman with the 'kindest soul' who died suddenly. 

Tributes were paid to 21-year-old Megan Haining after a body was found by police in Penilee play park on Saturday morning. 

Police were called to the scene on Barshaw Road just before 10am and the investigation is ongoing. 

It was confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a post-mortem will take place to establish the circumstances of the death.

Kimberly Laird started a GoFundMe fundraiser for her cousin Megan to help the family with funeral costs. 

She wrote: "Raising money for my big cousin Megan after the tragic news of her sudden passing.

"She was the kindest soul ever with a heart of gold and has been taken far too soon. 

"I have set this page up in hope to offer some help for Rose and the family with the funeral costs anything helps and will be greatly appreciated.

"Rest in Peace, Megan Haining."

The fundraiser had raised more than £2,200 in less than 24 hours.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "At around 9.55 am on Saturday, June 20 a 21 -year-old woman was found dead within Penilee Play Park, Barshaw Road, Glasgow.

"A post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death however police are not treating it as suspicious meantime.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
