Raised on the Wyndford estate in Maryhill, Duffy began his career with Celtic but never made the first team. He later played for Partick Thistle and Dundee.

Greenock Morton tweeted: "Special thoughts and warm wishes from us all to former player and manager Jim Duffy for a speedy and full recovery following a heart attack."

One of his former teams, Clyde FC, which he managed from 2011 to 2014, offered him their "best wishes", in a tweet.

Sportswriter and broadcaster, Graham Spiers called Duffy a "terrific guy".
