A BURST pipe has caused hours of disruption for residents in North Glasgow. 

The faulty pipe will cause disruption to residents in Royston, Springburn and other areas in the G21 postcode, expected to last until 5.30pm today.

The burst was identified at around 10.30am and emergency work is underway to restore the water supply to hundreds of homes in the north of the city. 

In a post on the Scottish Water website, the company said: "We are currently repairing a burst water pipe on Royston Road which is causing an interruption to the water supply for customers in the G21 area of Glasgow.

"We currently have an estimated time of repair of 5.30pm.

"The water supply will gradually return to normal for customers once the repair has been completed.

"While we carry out the repair please be aware that you may experience no water supply, low or intermittent pressure or discoloured water.

"At present we expect to complete the repair in a timeframe which means we do not plan to provide bottled at distribution locations.
