A THUG with a knife who threatened to “slash” his mum and burn her house down was jailed for 20 months.

James Main, 30, went on the drink and drug fuelled rant after being kicked out of Alana Tunnock’s home in Blackhill are in March.

He pleaded guilty on Thursday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to acting in a threatening or abusive manner and possession of a knife.

A not guilty plea was accepted by the crown to an assault on Miss Tunnock, 48, which included Main putting a knife to her throat.

The court heard Main committed the offences while on license from a similar conviction.

He attended the property on Greenside street while under the influence.

Prosecutor Lauren Staunton told the court Miss Tunnock had reason to remove Main from the property and dialled 999.

Main was later spotted banging on the door shouting: “Let me f***ing in.”

He was then arrested by the officers and replied: “F*** it, so I had a knife.”

Main was searched and a blue Stanley lock back knife fell from his trousers.

He stated: “I’ll f***ing slash that cow and I’ll burn the f***ing house down.”

Main, who has previous convictions for weapons, assault and robbery, was kept in custody before appearing at court.

Michael Gallen, defending, told the court Main was “ashamed” by his actions and has apologised to Miss Tunnock.

Sheriff Joseph Platt said: “I’m not persuaded that anything other than a custodial sentence is appropriate.”
