A MAN has denied murdering his two-month-old son by repeatedly inflicting a blunt force trauma on his head and body.

Brian Penn, 29, allegedly assaulted Kaleb Penn at a house on Wilson Street, Ayr, on 1 November 2017.

Prosecutors claim Penn compressed and shook the baby to his severe injury before he died in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital two days later.

Penn is also charged with attempting to murder the tot on various occasions between 13 October 2017 and 31 October 2017.

It is claimed Penn repeatedly inflicted blunt force trauma on Kaleb’s head and body by means unknown.

He is then said to have compressed his body and shaken him all to his severe injury and danger of life.

Penn’s defence QC Brian McConnachie tendered pleas of not guilty to the charges at the High Court in Glasgow.

A special defence of incrimination was also entered by Mr McConnachie.

A further hearing was set for August 6 by Judge Lord Mulholland who continued the bail of Penn, of Mossblown, Ayrshire, meantime.

Penn was not in court.
