A PERSON has tragically died after an incident at Bowling station.

British Transport Police officers attended the West Dumbartonshire station this morning after reports of a casualty on the tracks. 

Sadly, the force said the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are now in the process of identifying the person's next of kin. 

Trains in the area have been affected. 

ScotRail told passengers this morning that an incident on the line between Bowling and Dumbarton Central has caused the line to close while emergency services respond. 

In a tweet, a ScotRail social media officer wrote: "We're working closely with the emergency services, and will provide updates as soon as possible."

Balloch to Airdrie services start and terminate at Dalmuir then run express from Dalmuir to Hyndland via Yoker. Helensburgh to Edinburgh services terminate and start back from Hyndland. Dumbarton Central to Springburn services terminate and start back from Garscadden. 

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "We were called to Bowling station at 9.19am on Friday, June 26 following a report of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are in the process of notifying the person’s next of kin."
