Six people have been stabbed during a major ongoing incident at a hotel on West George Street.
Armed police officers currently attend the scene where the road has been closed off.
Police Scotland confirmed six people are in hospital receiving treatment for their injuries.
ACC Steve Johnson said: "The individual who was shot by armed police has died. Six other people are in hospital for treatment to their injuries including a police officer, who is in a critical but stable condition.

A source has told the Glasgow Times businesses in the area have been advised by police to close.
The suspect in connection to the attack has been shot dead by police.

An officer has also been rushed to hospital after being stabbed at the scene.
