Leaders, politicians, celebrities and members of the public have thanked our emergency services today for their rapid and controlled response to today's attack at West George Street.
An incident which took place at the Park Inn Hotel has left six people stabbed including a police officer.
All six, including five men aged 17, 18, 20, 38 and 53 are being treated in hospital for their serious injuries.
The officer has been described as being in a "critical but stable condition".
Police arrived at the scene two minutes after they received a report of the incident.
Within five minutes, 10 ambulances, a paramedic response unit, a Scottish Ambulance special operations team and two trauma teams arrived at the scene.
Three victims were transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and three others were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
A statement from the Scottish Ambulance Service reads: "We received a call at 1249 hours today to attend a major incident on West George Street in Glasgow.
"We dispatched 10 ambulances, a paramedic response unit, our special operations team, and two trauma teams to the scene.
"Our first resource arrived within five minutes. We transported three patients to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and three patients to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
"Our thoughts are with those in hospital and their families and emergency service staff who attended this tragic incident."
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has thanked our emergency services for the "quick" and "decisive" actions while they contained the incident.
She said: "I also want to thank all of those police officers whose quick and decisive actions contained the incident – one of whom was among those taken to hospital – as well as the work of the other emergency services. T
"The Justice Secretary and I have been kept informed through the afternoon and briefed by the Chief Constable."
