Police were rushed to the city centre of Glasgow this afternoon after an individual was stabbed.

An eyewitness told the Glasgow Times he heard "loads of screaming" then saw that a man was lying on the ground covered in blood.

Glasgow Times:

The witness, who preferred to stay unnamed, said: "Literally just happened, was loads of screaming and guy is on the ground with blood all over him.

"Looked like the guy came out of the Premier Inn hotel."

He added: "The guy's shoes and a load of blood still on the pavement."

Police have now confirmed the incident is being treated as a targeted assault and that there is no threat to the wider public.

However, the force confirmed to the Glasgow Times that the man was not linked to any nearby accommodation.
