TWO Bankies planned the perfect alternative for their daughter after her primary seven residential trip was cancelled due to coronavirus.

Jaclyn Brady and Alan Cameron told the Post how they wanted to provide a fun weekend for daughter Eva, since she had already missed out on her leavers’ dance and hadn’t seen her friends for weeks.

Eva, 12, who attended Our Lady of Loretto Primary has also celebrated her birthday in lockdown.

Instead of going to the Auchengillan outdoor centre near Milngavie, Eva and her family camped in the back garden, with a tent and small fire for toasting marshmallows, went orienteering, held midnight walks with a headlight and cooked dinner on the barbecue.

Mum-of-three Jaclyn said: “I was absolutely gutted for Eva and her friends. They have missed out on their end of year party; assembly; dance and mass, she has been so nervous about starting high school with all the lockdown changes and we needed to cheer her up.”

Eva said: “Lockdown at first made me really sad as it meant missing out on the end of primary but then I realised there were worse things going on in the world.

“I felt really down but when my mum and dad surprised me with my lockdown residential I was so happy. We had so much fun.”
