A SUSPECT is accused of uttering the word Covid as he allegedly coughed in a police officer’s face.
John Milne, 45, is said to have assaulted PC Peter Wylie in Glasgow city centre’s George Square in May this year.
Prosecutors claim Milne was asked to face away from PC Wylie but apparently shouted and coughed in his face.
It is stated that Milne said the word Covid and rendered PC Wylie liable to infection and illness.
Milne faces a final charge of assaulting his sister Tracey-Anne Milne by allegedly striking her on the head.
Milne pleaded not guilty on Tuesday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assaults.
A further hearing was set for August this year by Sheriff Sean Murphy QC who continued Milne’s remand in custody meantime.
