Due to lockdown, many of us haven't been able to keep up with the reconstruction works taking place at Queen Street Station.

Network Rail announced yesterday that developers would be resuming construction after a three-month pause due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The rail provider announced the activity will focus on the fit-out of the staff management suite inside the station, as well as a Travel Shop and basement area.

A new entrance at the corner of George Street will also be developed and opened up as part of the resumed works.

Though a significant amount of work is still to go underway on the station, Glaswegians have had their say on the overall transformation so far.

Gerry Braiden fell short of breath after he witnessed the building's new look.

He said: "My first time down at Queen St Station since March ad I properly gasped.

"In a good way."

Others have described it as a "big improvement", adding that the works so far look "amazing".

A man with the username Penguin Boy said: "Been watching the build as it developed. I think it will look great once fully completed.

"What once stood there was an eyesore, I really hated it.

"Was not going to take much to improve but I think this will be a stand out just off the square. Credit when it's due."

Another person named Kay Sillars agreed, adding: "Dropped the wean off for the train earlier: massive improvement."

Others have described it as a "travesty."

One person compared the station's new face to that of a supermarket's.

Glasgow Times:

They said: "Really? I think it's a bloody travesty.

"Supermarket/Car dealer vibes."

"Just like Tesco at Maryhill", said Barry Keenan.

Meanwhile, others were more interested in what could be included in the interior of the station as opposed to the overall look from outside.

Barry McGloan pitched: "Get a decent boozer in it."
