Hearts have joined the race to sign Rangers' Jake Hastie on loan.

Motherwell have registered an interest in their former player with a view to bringing him back to Fir Park. But Herald and Times Sport understands the Jambos are also keen on the winger.

New Hearts boss Robbie Neilson is just in the door at Tynecastle after leaving Dundee United and is looking to strengthen his squad. He has already added Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon but is believed to want to improve his attacking options following Heart's relegation to the Championship.

Hastie, 21, joined the Light Blues from the Steel Men less than one year ago and has already been loaned out to Rotherham before he was recalled by Steven Gerrard in January.

He managed 16 appearances for The Millers where he scored three goals. Though he has only made two appearances for the Ibrox club.

It is understood there is also interest in Hastie from England as well as further afield in Europe.
