A PETITION launched by the family of a tragic toddler has smashed its target and will be now be considered by MPs.

Fiona Govan is leading the charge for more funding into research for childhood cancers after her grandson Logan Maclean passed away.

Logan was just three when he died after a short battle against diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, known as DIPG, an untreatable childhood brain cancer.

Now, a petition to the UK Parliament has broken through the 100,000 signature mark needed to be considered by MPs just days after we told of the family's bid.

More than 20,000 have offered their support in the last 48 hours.

A number of leading charities and high-profile oncologist Professor Karol Sikora are among those to publicly back the cause.

Fiona, 50, said earlier this week: "If people who maybe don’t know anything about this disease or haven’t been affected by it could just take two minutes to log on and sign a petition, they could stop other families from suffering like we have.”
