SWG3 has unveiled plans for opening a high-tech, socially-distanced beer garden.

The arts and events venue's Galvanisers Yard - newly styled as Ronnie's Bar and Bike Shop - will be used from tomorrow as a 2500-square-feet beer garden, seating up to 250 people.

The Finnieston venue's owners have installed temperature monitoring checks at the door and technology to measure toilet capacity to ensure bathrooms and other communal areas do not become too crowded.

Customers will have two hours and 45 minutes at their assigned tables, which they have to book in advance through the venue's website.

Food will be available from various street food vendors and all food and drink will be ordered through a specially designed app.

Table reservations for the venue were released last week - with 2200 tables being booked in less than 5 minutes, said the company. The next batch of tables for August will go on sale next week.

SWG3 owner, Andrew Fleming-Brown said: “We have worked incredibly hard over the last few weeks in preparation for this moment.

"Our absolute priority is to ensure our customers will be able to socialise safely next week when we open, which is why the new space is designed – first and foremost - around hygiene and safety.”
