ALL sounds like good news for out-of-town shopping centres (More car free changes to George Square to give more space to people).

It’s important to keep the city centre completely free of anyone who might want to do business there or spend money in the

shops.

After all, people are reluctant, understandably, to use public transport just now and these measures will make sure they daren’t use their cars for fear of inadvertently driving up the wrong street.

This also has the happy side effect of ensuring offices and businesses won’t be able to afford rent and rates and have to close and that will lead to a further reduction on traffic and people in the area.

Glasgow City Council are brilliant at keeping the city alive.

I HOPE it’s better organised than the school hubs (Life after lockdown for Glasgow nursery kids).

My five-year-old granddaughter is now in her fourth school since lockdown as her mum works for NHS. How is this a safe environment for kids when they’re lumped together with different groups constantly?

What must a five-year-old feel like being shunted from school to school constantly? School can be a scary experience for children of that age and her mum has had to watch her distress when she has to change schools again.

She was even put into a school where it was all boys and she was the only girl. This is going to leave a bad impact on children’s mental wellbeing.

I NOTE Mr Greene’s letter about the SNP leading in the polls (July 6). I can’t figure out why I would want to vote for Nicola Sturgeon (right) and the current city council SNP administration.

Govanhill isn’t sorted, the free bulk uplift refuse service is non-existent with fly-tipping everywhere, alcoholics and addicts have taken over the city centre making it a no-go area, food waste bins haven’t been emptied in months, weeds are growing everywhere, the grass hasn’t been cut and graffiti is on the rise.

I think this will give citizens food for thought.

IT’S easy for motorists in Glasgow to distance from cyclists as they are virtually all cycling on pavements (Motorists ‘not giving room to cyclists’, July 7).
