An East End dessert parlour is being investigated by Just Eat after claims were put forward by customers over abusive messages.

Smunchiez, based on the Gallowgate, is accused of messaging a customer with messages branding them "a stupid little person" and warning, "karma is a c***."

Delivery operator JustEat launched the probe after the claims circulated on social media posts.

The customer shared images of a conversation between the parlour and herself, where she said the business' Instagram account had found her and messaged her directly after she placed two orders.

She said: "Might want to watch ordering from here.

"Order got declined yesterday so I placed another order now I have the owner finding me on Instagram to message me abuse and threaten me."

Their message to the customer reads: "You little stupid person, did you just order from us and collect order and make a refund complaint before excepting the order?

"If you then clearly a little scum bag who is trying to test business and I know you're pals with lunchglasgow so tell them KARMA is a c***

"Listen I will find out who is rotten to the core and who is honest making business."

The messages go on to insult the customer, branding her as a "trampoline".

Smunchiez have since deleted their social media accounts.

A Just Eat spokesperson said: “Whilst the restaurants on our platform are independent from the Just Eat business, we hold ourselves to high standards and in line with these, we would expect all of our restaurant partners to act responsibly and respectfully at all times.

“We are investigating this incident with the restaurant partner concerned and will take action as appropriate.”

The Glasgow Times has approached Smunchiez for comment.
