"Over the past year, the club has enjoyed varied speaker and fellowship evenings and social events, and the Christmas Float again hit the right notes thanks to everyone who contributed to its success, resulting in £2,000 donated to St Kentigern Hospice, £1,000 to the Waen Day Care centre, £50 to each of the 10 local schools towards the development of their outdoor garden areas, and £250 was donated to the Prestatyn and Meliden Young Carers.

"Brian wished all members and their families all the best in these difficult times.

"He said let's continue to keep in touch and stay safe until we can all meet again at The Beaches."

The club has not been able to meet at The Beaches Hotel since mid-March.

New president Martin congratulated Brian on a very successful, if different, year.

Chris added: "The club will continue to operate at least on a Zoom basis for the next few months but Martin hopes we will be able to carry out some work in the community.

"He is determined to get the Christmas Float out and about with Father Christmas in December 2020 - in some form or other - as so many residents look forward to it each year.

"We'll see what restrictions permit nearer the time."
