A FINANCIAL advice firm came up with a winning formula to help needy people through its annual charity day.

Gourock wealth management company Succession Giving, which falls under Succession Wealth at Kempock Place, held a collection for food and toiletries to be distributed across organisations in the area on the frontline of responding to the pandemic.

They collected enough to fill two cars and also donated £1,000 to the Inverclyde Community Action Response Group.

The ICARG team have distributed the collected items and cash to those in need.

Robert MacDonald, regional partner at Succession, said: "We started having the annual fundraiser in memory of our founder, Simon Chamberlain, who passed away a few years ago.

"Every year since firms across Scotland have chosen a day to both honour Simon and give back to the local community.

"This year was really successful and we're delighted to hand the money to ICARG, who will donate it to places helping across the community such as Branchton Community Centre, Belville Community Gardens and Inverclyde Foodbank."

Robert was joined by his colleagues Gwen Littlejohn, Janice Kelly and Lesley McLaren, who were on hand to help run the fundraising afternoon.

Lesley, who is a keen musician and successful drummer, was joined by Lynette Beaton of The Lynettes to perform for those dropping donations off to the collection.

Robert said: "Succession Giving will also be matching a percentage of the fundraising, so will soon be handing over another cheque to the group.

"It turned out a very successful day and there was a really great atmosphere with everyone coming together for a great cause."
