Armed police have seized paintball guns from a group of men after being rushed to the West End yesterday evening. 

The force had received a report of men firing a gun on a balcony at Harbour Terraces at around 8pm.

A response unit was rushed to the scene.

An eyewitness who lives nearby said: "Three cars and two others came in. Armed officers went straight into address on Glasgow Harbour Terraces.

"Not sure what it is yet. An officer stationed outside the building is stopping people passing.

"All the armed cops are still inside and an officer stationed outside has a gun."

Police have now confirmed paintball guns were seized and will be forensically examined.

Three men - aged 21, 22 and 22 - were "spoken to" by officers.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We received a report of men firing a gun on a balcony at Harbour Terraces, Glasgow, around 8pm on Thursday, 9 July.

"Officers attended, including specialist firearms officers, and enquiries were carried out to establish the circumstances.

"Three men  - aged 21, 22 and 22 - were spoken to.

"Paintball guns were seized and will be forensically examined. Nobody was injured and enquiries are ongoing."
