The Royal Scottish National Orchestra has announced a series of summer songs from its Junior Chorus, recorded as their term came to an end.

The young singers of the Orchestra’s choruses have been hard at work since their last face-to-face meetings at the RSNO Centre in Glasgow had to stop back in March.

Junior Chorus Director, Patrick Barrett, has continued to provide singing tasks, working with the young singers to record and build ‘singing wall’ compilation videos to showcase their efforts for the new series, Junior Chorus at Home.

The Junior Chorus at Home concerts are the latest digital content offering from the RSNO, which last week presented the final Friday Night Club of the series which amassed more than 400,000 views in 14 weeks.

The RSNO will debut the first Junior Chorus at Home video this Friday 10 July at lunchtime and will upload a new performance each week until the end of August. The series will end with a special video performance from the main RSNO Chorus members.

Christine Walker, Chorus Manager at the RSNO, said: “The past few months have been difficult for children across Scotland, not being able to go to school or socialise, so it was great to have fun online activities to keep their spirits up. We cannot wait to get back to regular rehearsals and performances, but until then we hope everyone can enjoy this great summer series.”

Junior Chorus Director, Patrick Barrett, said: “I am so excited for supporters of the RSNO to hear our fabulous Junior Chorus again. People will see and hear in the quality of these videos just how hard these young people have been working through lockdown.

"Lockdown was tough and we are so proud of how the children of the Junior Chorus have coped. I am thrilled that our vision to put together these videos has come to life and we can share them with you all.”

RSNO Junior Chorus at Home will debut on Friday 10 July at 12:30pm and is available to watch on the RSNO YouTube and Facebook pages.
