THEY had 38 Nats on the council. That’s two gone so now 36 and Labour with 30 (Drumchapel councillor resigns amid ‘dictatorship’ and bullying claims, July10). It’s looking pretty clear that they shall lose the administration before their time is up.

Glasgow is the largest wealth creator in Scotland, however the place is badly run and pretty rundown. You head out to neighbouring suburbs and they have cleaner streets and nicer play parks. In fact, you look at pictures of Glasgow from the 70s and the streets seem to be spotless compared to now. This city council has been established since 1996 and I’m sure we can all agree that since then we have had fiasco after fiasco.

Glasgow should be treated as the powerhouse of the Scottish economy the same as London is for England and the UK. We should have much better public transport and infrastructure. The streets should be paved with gold considering how much the city brings into the Scottish Government’s coffers. Instead we are run from Edinburgh and get everything second-rate. It’s theft – plain and simple. The Hydro and SEC are owned by the council but even the bridge going over to us is rundown like the rest of the city.

We should have a mayor who is voted in, the same as English cities, because a Lord Provost or council leader isn’t up to the job.

THERE is a difference between England and the rest of the UK (Scotland reports second weekday in a row with ZERO deaths 3).

There have been very, very few deaths from Covid-19 in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for a little while now, hence the cautious opening and relaxing of restrictions.

However, in England, where the death toll is still significant, the moronic behaviour associated with opening pubs and other businesses prompts the thought that there they have opened up too soon and are in danger of re-infecting those parts of the country which have the disease largely under control if they travel.

“SCOTLAND has reported 18 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours – the biggest daily rise in three weeks.”

I am seriously concerned about the increase in infections especially when we’re about to open up indoor restaurants and pubs, which I truly do not believe is a good idea at this time - surely we could have delayed just a little more?

FRANKIE, you are a true clown (Frankie Boyle joins uproar after Kelvingrove Park gates closed to curb boozing, July 10).

Glasgow Times:

These booze and drugs gangs were running a riot, and keeping people from enjoying the park – and also remember, there is a virus going around.

Jamie

WELL, thank goodness – at last the council has acted to stop those using the park as nothing more than a booze-fuelled festival site without paying any regard to the lockdown guidelines that were in place. It only takes a few to spoil things for the many.

AS a lifelong football top aficionado who is not allowed by his wife to cut about in one now that I’m in my 50s, that new Adidas creation is a thing of real beauty (Celtic’s new Adidas home kit released as fans go crazy for new design).

Can’t wait either to see the lime, Love St 1986 retro effort close-up.

I do have my eye on the training t-shirt though, green stripes on one sleeve, orange on the other. Kid in a sweetie shop.
