A new drive-thru Costa will soon be built in the East End after Glasgow City Council gave developers the green light.

The new, 24-hour branch will be located along London Road as a freestanding, single-storey drive-thru unit.

Customers will be able to access the shop via Fullarton Lane.

Plans include the installation of 28 parking spaces with two disabled bays within the grounds.

Their proposal reads: "The proposed new unit will be a freestanding, modern, single-storey drive-thru coffee shop.

"The unit will feature extensive glassed north and west elevations which will be complemented by the modern grey cladding and the south elevation will feature a drive-thru window."

Glasgow City Council gave developers the go-ahead yesterday, subject to conditions.

The council planning decision notice states: "The proposal was considered to be in accordance with the Development Plan and there were no material considerations which outweighed the proposal's accordance with the Development Plan."

Developers hope the new drive-thru coffee shop will complement the existing retail experience in the area.

Their proposal reads: "It is our view that the proposed coffee shop with drive-thru facility will complement the existing retail offer and add to the vitality of the area."
