A MAN denied assaulting his wife who is paralysed from the neck down.
John Beaton allegedly assaulted Patricia Callanan at her house in Glasgow’s Possilpark area in February this year.
The 59-year-old is said to have repeatedly struck her on the head with a lint roller “in the knowledge that she is paralysed from the neck down.”
Prosecutors claim Beaton then seized hold of her and dragged her from her bed at Ashfield Street.
It is said Miss Callahan was left hanging from the side of the bed until assistance arrived all to her injury.
Beaton, of the city’s Springburn, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault.
A trial was set for January next year by Sheriff Paul Crozier who continued Beaton’s bail meantime.
