A TEEN whose birthday plans and school prom were ruined by Coronavirus has celebrated her 18th with the reopening of pubs.
Kristin Reade had hoped for a large party to celebrate the milestone birthday, but when Covid-19 put the country into lockdown she expected to spend the big day indoors.
But, luck was on Kristin’s side when First Minister Nicola Sturgeon revealed pubs would reopen on July 14 - the day of the former Gryffe High School student’s birthday.
Kristin, who is due to start studying international business and Spanish at the University of Strathclyde in the autumn, said: “We just took it easy and went out for lunch at our local pub, The Boarding House in Howwood.
“We had a couple of parties at the weekend with family and friends but we obviously can’t do much.”
The teen enjoyed a martini with her parents.
