INFORMATION for Bankies who are shielding has been highlighted by the town’s MSP.

Those affected will soon receive a letter from the Chief Medical Officer Dr Gregor Smith outlining new guidelines.

It will include what still needs to be done to move to pausing shielding from August 1, as long the evidence is clear that it is safe to do so.

As of July 10, those shielding no longer need to physically distance from people they live with, can travel further than five miles from their house, and visit one other household indoors and stay overnight without physical distancing.

Gil Paterson, Clydebank’s MSP, said: “While the final decision on whether to implement these changes to those shielding are not final until the end of the month, it is good news.

“I know how hard shielding has been for those affected, so an easing of restrictions will be welcome.

“While it is positive, I know many will still feel anxious about re-entering the public following the pandemic lockdown.

“August will be a month of transitioning back to a more normal life, but I still urge constituents who are shielding to follow safety precautions carefully.”
