A SUSPICIOUS item has been recovered from a property in the East End.
A Royal Navy bomb disposal unit rushed to Dalmarnock Road this morning after the alarm was raised.
A large police presence and fire crews also currently attend the scene. Officers have confirmed there are no injuries.
Police say a "suspicious item" has been removed from a property and enquiries are ongoing.
Inspector Stevie Kinvig, from London Road Police Office, said: "As part of an ongoing police enquiry, officers attended an address on Dalmarnock Road around 4.30am on Friday, 17 July, 2020 when a suspicious item was found within.
"As a precaution, a number of surrounding residential properties have been evacuated and roads surrounding the area have been temporarily closed.
"There are no injuries and the EOD are currently in attendance.
"Enquiries remain ongoing into the incident."
Glasgow City Council earlier revealed the junction at Springfield Road was completely cordoned off.
The council's Traffic Control and Management team sid: "Due to a Police incident, Dalmarnock Road is closed eastbound at Springfield Road until further notice.
"Drivers are advised to use an alternate route."
