Kevin Bridges has revealed that his labrador Annie also takes naturally to the spotlight - and will not hesitate to steal the show.

She has even wandered on to the stage in lieu of the comedian during a show in Inverness.

He told of his concern after he realised Annie was missing just before a gig, only to discover she was lapping up attention on the centre stage after a frantic search.

The Clydebank funnyman told the story on the 'One of the family' podcast and said: “It was about half full and we heard the audience give a collective ‘Awwww’. Annie had walked straight on stage.

“I had to sort of coax her off. Eventually, my tour manager came on and grabbed her by the collar.

“She was loving it. She was enjoying the, ‘Everybody is here to see me’ sort of feeling. Obviously, half the crowd have seen there’s this lovely labrador in the building so we had to bring her on at the end for the encore. Everybody gave her big applause.

“I think that was a highlight for Annie’s showbusiness career. She wasn’t fazed at all, she found her calling.”

He added that she feels quite at home at Glasgow's SSE Hydro and will "head straight for the catering".

"She just goes straight for the door, crying. But the chef guy always makes her a dog bowl with some chicken and rice in it.

"She loves going to the Hydro for that reason."

Kevin even brought her onto the stage at the Hydro for the final night of his record-breaking run.

The labrador was rescued after she was found abandoned in Ireland and it is thought she came from a  puppy farm in Cork.

He added: "At least she can say she came from a puppy farm in Cork to performing for 12,000 people at the Hydro."
