A PRISONER has died at Low Moss near Bishopbriggs.

The Scottish Prison Service said 45-year-old Paul Dowds had died.

They revealed the news on Monday and said Police Scotland had been informed.

They also confirmed that Mr Dowds was an untried prisoner.

A statement from the Scottish Prison Service said: "Paul Dowds, 45, an untried prisoner from HMP Low Moss has died.

"Police Scotland have been informed and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

"A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course."
