ROADWORKS will take place on the M74 in the city’s East End. 

The works will see the Northbound Junction 2A onslip at Tollcross resurfaced. 

The section of road will be closed overnight from 8pm Tuesday, August 6 to 6am the following morning and the same overnight on Wednesday.

Transport Scotland said that workers on the site would physically distance and that the organisation is satisfied the works can go ahead in line with government guidelines.

Brendan O’Sullivan, Scotland TranServ’s network area manager said: “We have implemented many new working practices across our own workforce and those of our contractors and suppliers as we work towards the future delivery of our maintenance programmes. Thorough risk assessments have been carried out as we take a lead in the delivery of trunk road maintenance.

“It is vital that we complete these works in order to maintain road safety. Works will be carried out overnight in order to reduce the impact on communities and businesses as they recover at this time.

“This is an important section of the trunk road network, and as such is used by emergency services, freight, retail and delivery traffic.”
