CREDIT where credit is due, well done the Glasgow Times for prompting the police into taking action as the shopkeepers’ pleas fell on deaf ears (Glasgow’s top cop increases police patrols on Union Street amid crime wave, Wednesday).

Let’s hope there is an impact

and it is not a temporary measure, and it continues, so the good people who work there can go about their business in peace and safety!

WHY has it taken until now for the police to increase patrols?

The four corners has been an issue for as long as I can remember.

I’ll be surprised if there are any police around that area around the late evening when things usually kick off.

THE city centre is awash with drug addicts and low lives.

It is shocking to see so many on the streets and it is time that they are made to work and contribute or jailed.

It’s not fair on everyone else to walk around and deal with these people.

ACCORDING to government sources there is about to be another Covid virus spike across the EU, China are bracing for another hit and it doesn’t seem to be slowing any in India or the US.

So why don’t they just close down the UK border?

Britain won’t handle another spike in cases, the Government has been too slow to react to the threat of this virus at every turn.

The border should have been closed instantly and as an island nation we wouldn’t have been infected with a non-airborne virus.

When it came to wearing face masks, this should have been mandatory in March, yet it took until July for them to act on it.

They keep dangling miracle cures in front of us every few weeks yet I still don’t see a cure.

This Tory Government has blundered from crisis to crisis – Covid, Brexit, Universal Credit etc. Totally inept and out of touch with the electorate.

I WAS disappointed to read about a spate of bike thefts in Glasgow’s West End (Wednesday).

It’s a disgrace the amount of thieves who are around nowadays. The punishment isn’t severe enough to deter them.
